Impairment
- lacking a limb, or part of a limb, or having a defective limb,
organism or movement of the body. If an individual's intellectual,
psychological or emotional make-up differs from accepted "norms".
Individual
Needs
The law related to Community Care places a duty on local authorities
to assess any person or individual who appears to be in need of
community care services.
Interim
Order
An Order made by a Court usually at short notice to prevent somebody
(including local authorities) from doing something as a temporary
measure until a further and fuller hearing.
Inspection
Unit
Local authorities have a duty to set up Inspection Units so that
residential accommodation provided by them, and other registered
accommodation can be regularly inspected in line with Part 1 of
the Registered Homes Act 1984. Community Homes and registered children's
homes are inspected under the direction of the Local Authority Social
Services Act 1970.
Intergrated
- Doing things within the community, and mixing with people who
are not disabled by society.
