Needs
Not defined within the legislation. The needs of a person are based
on a number of different factors. Culture, religion, health, social
needs, educational needs, psychological needs etc. Needs differ
from person to person. Someone may need support to use a shower,
whereas someone else may need support to go out once a week to the
pub.
Needs
and Resources
Just because a need has been highlighted it doesn'y mean to say
that you will get exactly what you need. The coiurts have said that
resources can be taken into asccount when assessing need, when deciding
if it is necessary to meet those needs, and when deciding how to
meet those needs
Needs
Led Assessment
A process by which the needs of an individual are put first, so
that services can be shaped to meet those needs. Good in theory,
difficult in practice.
Negligence
The term that applies where a duty of care is owed by somebody (including
a local authority) and where it is foreseeable that failure to comply
with that duty with care will result in damage occurring.
Nomination
When people want to be elected they or someone else must put their
names forward. This is called a nomination.
