Peer Advocacy
Speaking up for a person who is in a similar position to ones self . i.e. age or disability.

People First
This is an organisation that campaigns on behalf of people with learning disabilities.

To allow someone else to do something for you, like voting.

Someone who is professionally qualified to help others with their feelings, emotions and behaviour.

Purchaser / Provider
As part of their work, Social Services are required to assess local needs, and are to negotiate contracts with private and voluntary sector services. This means that social service departments do not only provide services such as day care, or home helpers, but they buy services in from other agencies.
